Q: Are there guilds in Age of Conan?
A: Yes. Players can group together and create their own guilds, with full control of adding or removing members.
Q: Why be a part of a guild?
A: Apart from the social benefits, only guilds are able to partake in the PvP battles taking place in the Border Kingdom. Guilds are also the only groups that can build player-made cities.
Q: Are there guild banks?
A: Yes, guild banks are available for members of a guild to share. There is also an optional "guild tax" system in place where, if a guild chooses, its members will automatically be deducted a percentage of the money they make, whether it be by looting items or selling goods, and put it towards the guild’s coffers.
Q: Is the game completely PvP?
A: While there are servers for PvP combat anywhere within the game, for the PvE (Player versus Environment) servers, PvP will be available only in the Border Kingdom, Siege play (in the Border Kingdom and defending and attacking world cities), arenas and PvP mini-games, and drunken bar brawls. You can also choose to not participate in PvP at all if that's your preference.
Q: Do PvP encounters also use the Real Combat mechanics?
A: Yes. Although there may be certain limitations to prevent exploits.
Q: Are there any penalties for killing someone much weaker in PvP combat?
A: On the PvP servers, yes. There are four tiers of levels. 1-20; 20-40; 40-60 and 60-80. If you kill someone in another tier, or someone much weaker than you are, you can get a bounty put on your head. This means you will get inconvenient visits from bounty hunters and possibly even jail time.
Q: What about smaller guilds who don't have the resources to build and maintain a battlekeep?
A: Not every guild will have the manpower or ability to build and maintain a battlekeep. However, there are smaller towers within the Border Kingdom which work similarly to battlekeeps. They do not offer the same rewards, but they do give smaller guilds a place to own and strategize their plans.
Q: Can other guilds attack a keep or tower when no one is online to defend it?
A: There is a vulnerability window that is set to determine when the attacking guild can attack. They first have to set up a war tent outside the targeted keep, to warn the defending party that they plan to attack. This gives the defending party time to ensure they have enough people available to defend the structure.
Q: What are drunken bar brawls all about?
A: Bar brawls don't take into consideration a player's level or equipment. It's all about getting drunk and fighting. The drunker you are, the stronger you may be, but the less chance you'll have of hitting. These brawls come complete with blurred vision.
Q: What are the rewards for PvP combat?
A: There is a PvP ranking system. You can also earn blood money is through PvP combat. Blood money can be used to purchase items which are not available on any other market. There are also PvP-only feats and equipment. There are a total of 20 PvP levels, which are separate from adventuring levels. You can also gain access to a battlekeep in the PvP-only Border Kingdoms.
