I just renewed my account and a friend of mine is letting me use his old one as well, so I thought I'd start boxing... However I have no idea where to go - the druid is 55 and has decent gear, and my mage is 57 and has above average gear (Quested, loot, and bazaar). I'd like to get them both in the 60s, especially my mage who needs to hit 61 for his new pet asap so any help for the quickest way would be great :)
Also, since the druid was already renewed (Until later this month), I wanted to take advantage of the free stuff you're supposed to get, but I can't seem to figure out WHERE. I found a group for 5 NPCs in PoK, but all they do is tell you where to level / do quests at.
If you have free swag waiting for you, it'll show up under the claim window. Access it via the EQ button on the interface.
For hunting grounds, check out the hotzones. For your level, you can choose between Nadox & Akheva Ruins. Nadox is by far the more crowded and popular of the two with all the obvious benefits and downsides. Akheva does drop a nice charm though with 'static' stats instead of the "Increases in power as you eat patty melts" foolishness. You can see the details in this thread. My mage soloed fine in Akheva at lvl 50 so a pair of you would do fine or might even find it underpowered for your tastes.
Another never-visited hotzone is Skyshrine. You have to deal with the maze and all that crap but, if you can get past it, you'll find some real easy pulling and fairly easy fights as you work down the long hallways. My lvl 62 SK soloed here until 65 and it was quick xp with absolutely no competition.
Finally, take a look at some of the newer armor options. I left the game well geared for a casual player but returned to find a lot of upgrade options. Look into the Silverwing progressive gear quests and the "trio" jewelry as well as the Defiant armor drops. You might have been around for those things when they came out but they were new to me.
You can go to plane of justice basement and duo punishers and enforcers. With harmony of nature you should be able to single pull them. This is a nice place to get EP's for 61 62 spells plus nice gems drop here. All tier one PoP have a zone bonus. The punishers and enforcers have a very nice spawn rate.
Mage/druid is an awesome box IMO. I would take my time in low 60s and knock out core AAs on both toons healing adept, healing gift, spell casting mastery on druid. On mage spell casting mastery, spell crits etc. With 100-150 AAs on both toons at 62 will help you a lot on higher levels.
Okay, thanks... I have a bit of a boxing question and sitll looking for more advice on where to hunt, I've tried PoJ solo with mage and got completely destroyed... Is it that much easier duo? Anyways, I have two computers sitting in a corner (Each has its own desk and monitor), one is running EQ 1280x1024 windowed, and the other (Slower) is running EQ 1024x768 full screen... The full screen one is slightly slower, and can lag at times - so I'm curious... Which toon should run on which computer? The faster one is obvious my main, and the one that my chair is lined up to / slightly easier to use (But not by much). Does it matter that much?
Also, I have other characters I want to get 40+, or 50+ before my time runs out... A 30 monk, 26 cleric, and 36 necro. Any advice on powerleveling these guys? The monk/cleric I was thinking about doing the same DS + chlor method that I've always used, but I've tried to DS/chlor necro, and the druid both, and neither method is all that great. Would grouping at 35+ be worth while?
One last thing - should I decide to keep it, what's the best druid duo partner? I've been following the duo thread on here for a bit, but the best I've heard that involves druid is a necro. I'd kind of like to be able to get up to 70+ pretty quickly on both of them, and be able to grind optimally and pharm somewhat well.
