After experiencing ultimate fail on FFXI and being fed up with Sega's antics on Phantasy Star Universe I've decided to take it to the next step and play Ever Crack! Just got a few questions to ask before I set up my account(and when the game finally gets to my freakin house!) -
What server should I play on, if there are multiple servers? - I don't wanna be stuck on a server like FFXI's Odin where it costs twice as much to aquire anything or on Hades where half of the game requires some bit of emo drama.
Is it hard to make money on this game, or has the community been destroyed by gold sellers? - Sometimes a game that has been around long enough becomes rather difficult for people to even start out.
Do you need to be in a Guild? How do they work on there? - How does Guild chat work on this game, or do you have to meet up in certain places that are designated to your group?
How friendly is the community in general? - Phantasy Star Universe had a Italic Textvery friendlyItalic Text community down to the point where if you asked how to start the game people would end up gearing your character fully to start out.. then on the other end of the spectrum you could spend the rest of your in game career fishing for petty money because you're being mocked over your equipment like in FFXI. Noobs are noobs and when all people can do is call you a moron and kick you out of leveling parties for not being an e-peener takes ruins the fun of it all.
What job should I play? - I'm considering being an Elf Bard. On FFXI I was a BRD75, RDM74, and WHM75. On Phantasy Star I was an equivalent to a main healer, buffer, and ranger.
Are there mounts?
How do the clothes look higher up? - Fashion and kicking ass is important. ^^ Lawl.
Start out on the Castle Lightwolf server. If you join any other server you won't find anyone to xp with at a low level but CLW has tons of people at all levels.
Making money isn't too hard.. you will figure it out when you group up. Bards are a lot of fun to play that is a good choice. Sure join a guild and make some friends. There is no headset or teamspeak in this game so you choose a type of "chat" you want to be in and type in it(say, shout, guild, group). No such thing as epic mounts. Clothing.. eh it't not too bad really.
So when you start off you should do your starting quests then find a town called Freeport. There are tons of ppl from all lvls there.
No doubt you should start on the CLW server, but if you do need additional help, you can go to Hodstock.com and view or print out area maps so you know where you are and where you're going. Hodstock.com also helps you with what you can/should put your training points on when lvling your character aswell as CM points :)
(I found the ~Zone~ map to be the most helpful)
But yeah... the game did die... there's still a few good players but nothing like it's glory days back on 03 and 04 and even 05.
It's still fun I think, I'm thinking about going back in a few months or something. I found the people on there to be the koolest mmorpg ppl, but like in every other game there's always gonna be jerks here n there.
As for Armor n Fashion....... not too good untill u get way higher up
I had an Elf Bard :D
Supper awesome to play with!!! And since your gonna start out in FaySpires... you might wanna look up that Zone map, cuz like Sarrlocke said, you're gonna have to go to Freeport, that's where mostly every one will be... if they aren't out killing stuff n what not.
It's also really easy to learn :D
Hope ya like it!
